NDIS Carpenter
Find a list of NDIS Carpenter . There are currently some Carpenter providers offering a range of services.
Many NDIS participants need custom modifications made to their homes in order to ensure access to certain parts of the property and generally live more comfortably. If these modifications are related directly to the participant’s disability and are shown to be “reasonable and necessary,” they will be funded by the NDIS.
That is where carpenters have a role to play. There are many carpentry and joinery businesses that are registered with the NDIS, which means that they are specially qualified to make and install the kinds of modifications that participants require. Such modifications are known as Special Disability Accommodation (SDA).
Not all carpenters have experience with SDA. The ones that do will advertise their experience. If they have a relationship with the NDIS they will advertise that as well—and then you can be confident that you are dealing with the right kind of professional.
The range of services provided by carpenters is broad. For example, they can build and install modifications designed to improve access, such as ramps, hand rails, and chair raisers. They can also build custom stairs, custom fit-outs in all areas of your home (including outside), and custom joinery.
If you have purchased special assistive technology, a carpenter may be able to deliver it to you and install it in your home for you.
Before any work is performed, make sure that you sign a contract detailing the terms of your service agreement. This, along with a detailed price quote, must be provided to the NDIS in order for the work to be included in your plan. The NDIS will review the documents and tell you whether or not the proposed modification is eligible for funding.
