NDIS Household Tasks
Find a list of NDIS Household Tasks . There are currently some Household Tasks providers offering a range of services.
This funds supports for essential household tasks that NDIS participants are not able complete by themselves. Such tasks may include cleaning and laundry, home maintenance, gardening and landscaping, meal preparation, dish washing, ironing, fresh linen, banking and shopping, meal delivery, and assistance with specialised equipment. The main goal is to help participants establish and maintain a clean, safe, and pleasant living environment.
Many people living with disabilities are unable to clean their houses on their own due to limited mobility. With that in mind, the NDIS Household Tasks category includes supports for essential cleaning in kitchens, bedrooms, bathrooms, laundry rooms, and toilets.
Provision and delivery of certain essential items may be covered by the Household Tasks category as well. These items include but are not limited to:
- Towels
- Sheets
- Mattress Protectors
- Bath Mats
- Plastic Bed Sheeting
- Thermal Blankets
- Hand Towels
- Doona Covers
- Face Washers
- Hand Towels
- Pillow Cases
Supports in this category also include those that help participants develop skills so that they can perform essential household tasks with more independence. Capacity building supports are funded as well.
Moreover, the NDIS will provide funding for assistive products designed for the purpose of making household tasks like meal preparation and household cleaning easier. Funding is also available for assistive seating products and adapted chairs.
In certain cases participants will receive assistance with their parenting responsibilities, provided the participants remain personally involved in the responsibility. An example given by the NDIS is a support worker helping a participant transport their kids to and from school. This is allowable as long as the participant plays an active role in the process.
